The pipe is inserted into the machined socket and fillet welded externally, producing a joint with no internal obstruction and high fatigue strength — the preferred method for small-bore high-pressure piping. Cross, NBSW, 3000# / 6000# / 9000# — A forged cross provides a four-way socket weld junction from a single forging, giving three branches from one point with full pressure integrity. Equal Tee, NBSW, 3000# / 6000# / 9000# — A forged equal tee branches a socket-welded pipe run into two paths, with all three ports machined to the same nominal bore. 45° Elbow, NBSW, 3000# / 6000# / 9000# — A 45° forged elbow provides a shallower direction change than a 90°, reducing pressure drop and turbulence where a gentler route is acceptable. Full Coupling, NBSW, 3000# / 6000# / 9000# — A full coupling joins two lengths of pipe in a straight run, with a machined socket at each end to receive the pipe ends for fillet welding. Half Coupling, NBSW, 3000# / 6000# / 9000# — A half coupling has one socket end and is welded directly onto a vessel wall or larger pipe to create a branch or instrument take-off point. 3 Piece Union, NBSW, 3000# / 6000# / 9000# — A three-piece union consists of two tail pieces and a central nut, letting a welded pipe run be disconnected for maintenance without cutting. It is placed wherever equipment must be periodically removed.
